This page will show you how to change the formatting of articles to make it look better to mobile users.

How to do it

The wiki uses Extension:MobileDetect to change the way content is shown to mobile users. This introduces two new fun tags, <mobileonly> and <nomobile>.

<mobileonly>This will not be displayed in desktop/full browsers, only in mobile browsers</mobileonly>
<nomobile>This will not be displayed in mobile browsers, only in desktop/full browsers</nomobile>

The wiki uses Skin:Vector by default and Skin:Minerva Neue for mobile devices. These are both the exact same skins Wikimedia use for their projects (Wikipedia).

Examples of use

Using the main page as an example, if we present the desktop version of the page with box templates to mobile users, the page is super broken. By wrapping the desktop version of the site in <nomobile> tags, and the mobile version of the site with <mobileonly>, we completely change how the same page is presented to both users. This is possible because the content and text of the main page is transcluded in from the source page EndMyopia Wiki/content. It's important we do this - SEO is prioritised to websites with good mobile optimisation.

You can use these tags in all articles. It's probably good practise to make sure that as many articles as possible can be read by mobile users, or at least the main ones. If any of the articles you have written have extremely fancy templating that would never work on mobile, wrap it up in <nomobile> tags, and present the content in an alternative mobile friendly way with <mobileonly>.

Mandatory fun

Be sure to make fun of mobile users as much as possible with this technique, and laugh at their plight for staring at their tiny rectangle. Smartphones ain't good, chief.

...HEY! WAIT A MINUTE!!!!
