Refractive surgery is any surgery that changes the refractive state of the eye. All currently available elective refractive surgeries are performed on the front of the eye and do not change your eyeball length, or risk factors associated with being a high myope, and have their own additional risk factors and complications. Some refractive surgery is necessary as part of treatment for medical conditions such as cataracts but elective surgeries are discouraged in the EM method.
Refractive surgery does not stop myopia progression, if you have had refractive surgery and are having problems with progression post-surgery, EM methods may help you return to your post-surgical state and maintain your eyesight.
