Be bold!

Hiya Divenal. Be bold and change it! :) -NottNott (talk) 10:23, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Referencing articles

Check out Help:Referencing, I added the amazing tool you've shown off to it. That thing is brilliant!!! -NottNott (talk) 14:21, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

@NottNott:  :-) There was one thing I wanted to check out - what if I want to refer to the same reference from more than one place in the text? I noticed that the citation tool uses <ref name=...>{{...}}</ref> so I assume you just need to do another ref but reuse the name you used in some way. But I can possibly figure it out by looking at wikipedia pages or something. (Or just RTFM.) Divenal (talk)
Check the source for this talk page: [1]
More text[1]. Syntax is finnicky, looks like you need "" and the backslash in <ref name="referencelol" /> for calling the reference later in the article. That's dumb. -NottNott (talk) 14:31, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
@NottNott: thanks. Syntax looks perfectly regular, if you know XML ! The / before the closing > is magic to make it valid. XML tags must always be balanced, and the slash tells it that this doesn't need a closing tag (or any body). It's completely equivalent to <ref name="referencelol"></ref> [1], but shorter. Divenal (talk)
[1] Oh wow, you can even get rid of the "" if you do <ref name=referencelol></ref>. Cool stuff!!! -NottNott (talk) 14:55, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Welcome, sysop Divenal

Maybe you'll need the tools at some point, maybe you won't Face-grin.svg -NottNott (talk) 20:45, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

On wikEd

Agreed that sometimes it's slow. You can enable and disable it by clicking it in the top right (as I'm sure you're doing). Sometimes it's good, sometimes it just slows someone down. -NottNott (talk) 22:07, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

@NottNott: Actually I have it turned off in preferences, in the gadgets section. (Speaking of preferences, I've still never got the popup text for hyperlinks working. While it used to work only when logged out, it now never seems to work at all. Weird.) Divenal (talk)
Popups seem to work fine when I just viewed the wiki logged out. Huh. It's a mystery -NottNott (talk) 22:28, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

EndMyopia Wiki: Launched!

Thanks to everyone who has done a terrific job on getting the wiki up to scratch. Definitely a team effort, and I think it's paid off quite nicely. Always more to be done, but the basics look pretty taken care of. Wiki's looking good. We're on the front page of the main site, it's been promoted in Facebook and there should be a video coming out at some point.

Admin specific: the next two to four weeks will be a good barometer of how much vandalism can be expected over time, and whether things need to be changed or not. I'm heavily in favour of keeping it 'create an account, make an edit', but if need be there can be additional restrictions.

Try to check in on Special:RecentChanges every once in a while to see if anything unsavoury is happening. I might be overestimating the amount of vandalism we'll get, we must wait and see. Don't be afraid to block users if necessary.

Cheers! -NottNott (talk) 08:55, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

Eyesight Improvement Equation

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this change to the article. Could you clarify what you mean? :) -NottNott (talk) 14:22, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Okay nvm, I clarified it a bit after thinking. -NottNott (talk) 15:19, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
