EndMyopia Subreddit
The EndMyopia Subreddit is a public discussion area on the Reddit website. It was started in March 2018 by /u/jake_reddits (Jake Steiner).
It's much less popular than the EndMyopia Forum or Facebook group.
EndMyopia threads in other subreddits
Search for "EndMyopia reddit" and most results come from r/myopia and r/optometry, which are not run by EndMyopia. The highest-ranking ones are single first-person accounts:
- I tried EndMyopia for 5 years - Here is the answer (r/myopia). The author reports a measured change from -2.75 to -2.00, then concludes the method did not work for them.
- The Truth about EndMyopia and Jake Steiner (my opinion) (r/myopia). The author started at -6, followed the method on their own from the blog, and describes dry eyes, flashes, and later retinal holes and a tear. Excerpts are on Negative reviews.
- Thoughts on EndMyopia.com and What's the deal with end myopia? (r/optometry).
One account and the published record
A thread is one person's experience, told once. The published record is hundreds of people's prescriptions over time: 423 first-person case reports from 2013 to 2026 in the EndMyopia case registry (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21016340), written up as a preprint (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21230819). Weigh them the way you would weigh any evidence: a single account next to hundreds of documented ones.
Flashes, floaters and the retina
Higher myopia comes with a higher risk of retinal thinning, holes and tears, whatever method someone follows or doesn't. New flashes of light, a sudden shower of floaters, or a shadow or curtain across part of your vision mean an eye doctor the same day. See Retinal detachment.
